Dr Tereza Novotná je výzkumnou spolupracovnicí think-tanku EUROPEUM v programu Globální Evropa, seniorní badatelkou Centra pro evropskou integraci Svobodné univerzity v Berlíně (FU Berlin) a výzkumnou spolupracovnicí platformy 9DashLine se zaměřením na korejský poloostrov. Na FU Berlin byla držitelkou dvouletého výzkumného grantu “EUSKOR” programu Evropské unie Horizon 2020-Marie Sklodowska-Curie (č. grantové smlouvy 797977) o roli Evropské unie v Severovýchodní Asii a zahraniční politice EU vůči Severní Koreji a držitelkou grantu Korea Foundation na téma srovnání covidových pandemických opatření v Evropě a Asii. Tereza též spolupracuje s Institutem evropských studií na Université libre v Bruselu, kde mezi lety 2012-17 působila jako post-doktorandka. Mezi 2017-2018 byla Tereza hostující profesorkou Korea Foundation na Centru EU na Soulské národní univerzitě a na Fudanské univerzitě v Šanghaji a v roce 2024 na LUISS Univerzitě v Římě.

Tereza získala doktorský titul v oboru politologie a evropská studia na Bostonské univerzitě ve Spojených státech a dříve vystudovala politologii a mezinárodní vztahy na Karlově Univerzitě. Tereza je autorkou monografie How Germany Unified and the EU Enlarged: Negotiating the Accession through Transplantation and Adaptation (Palgrave Macmillan, 2015) a spoluvydavatelkou zvláštního vydání odborného časopisu Asia Europe Journal k evropsko-korejským vztahům. Tereza publikovala v zahraničních odborných časopisech (např. Journal of European IntegrationJournal of Common Market StudiesStudia Diplomatica, German Politics and Society, West European Politics a Journal for Contemporary European Research) i v řadě populárních perdiodik a analytických publikacích na témata týkající se evropské zahraniční politiky a vztahů EU s Asií a Indo-Pacifikem (vč. 38th North, The Diplomat, The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, 9DashLine, Asia Trends, NK Pro, APB East West Center aj.). Tereza často komentuje zahraniční politické dění v anglickém, českém a německém jazyce pro Českou televizi, německou ZDF, Die Welt, Indus News, NK News i několik německých a švýcarských rozhlasových stanic a Radio svobodná Asie. V minulosti Tereza též pracovala v Evropské komisi, DG RELEX/EEAS, Delegaci Evropské unie ve Washingtonu a na Stálém zastoupení ČR při Evropské unii.

Kateřina Davidová and Tereza Novotná prepared a background paper for the Round Table of the National Convention on the EU on Reactions to the US Inflation Reduction Act. Three main questions are put to the Roundtable: What impact can the IRA have on Transatlantic relations and free trade in general, and how should the EU try to actively shape these relations? How can the EU ensure the competitiveness and strengthen the productivity of its industry in the future and promote the development of EU produced green technologies? How will the changes affect the Czech Republic directly and how should the Czech Republic proceed within the EU to avoid being left behind in the "green race"? Which specific climate-neutral (net-zero) industrial sectors should the Czech Republic focus on?

Tereza Novotná, an associate research fellow at our Institute, wrote an article for Korea on Time, where she argues, that from a security perspective, the EU-South Korea partnership has been marked by three key topics: the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine, North Korea, and US-China strategic competition. It would be a smart choice for Yoon’s team to continue and expand on the New Southern Policy rather than trying to come up with a new framework. In the end, it will be neither Eastern Europe nor North Korea but the Indo-Pacific which will hold the key to the future of the EU-Korea partnership.
