The European Parliament is taking its time - even after a quarter of a year, it still has not decided on the possible lifting of Jana Nagyová's parliamentary immunity. This is also blocking the Czech judiciary - the High Court cannot yet decide on the appeal in the Čapí hnízdo case. Viktor Daněk, deputy director of the EUROPEUM Institute, commented for Seznam Zprávy.

I do not recall that a request to waive the immunity of a Czech MP has ever been discussed in recent years. A well-known case of an MEP being investigated concerns a recent corruption scandal in which Belgian police intervened directly in the European Parliament building. However, no request for waiver of immunity was needed at the time, thanks to the exception for being caught red-handed.
